Get Out The Box matches adults, ages 20 and older, with kids, ages 6 to 17. Mentors serve as role models to youths, many of whom come from single parent homes or from foster homes. Most simply desire more time with a responsible, caring adult. The benefits of mentoring are tremendous.
Get Out The Box’s Afterschool programs serve children and youth of all ages, and encompass a broad range of focus areas including academic support, mentoring, youth development, arts, and sports and recreation.
GET OUT THE BOX helps these youth find temporary shelter in community-based homes for homeless and runaway youth who are not in the child welfare system. The focus is on getting kids off the street and into a safe, appropriate setting, preferably back in their family home. All services are aligned to work toward our ultimate objective: giving homeless youth the opportunity to exit life on the street for good.
GET OUT THE BOX helps find these youth transitional living programs, both treatment home and foster care based, that prepare youth in the child welfare system a solid foundation for successful, independent living through building of assets, skills, and resources.
